"In the past we have gone directly to the side over mini hurdles. Recently I started to think about deceleration occurring much more at 45 degree angles so we experimented with more of a zig zag 45 degree pattern. Conclusion is that what you see here probably makes more sense."

Coach Boyle posted this on Strengthcoach.com a while back and it was one of those ‘duh' moments for me, where you realize this makes way more sense then simply performing medial/lateral hurdle hips in the frontal plane only.
