Friesen Physio Fitness Summit on Saturday, September 8, 2012

Peter Friesen, Head Athletic Trainer and Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Carolina Hurricanes and Raleigh Orthopedic Clinic are co-hosting the Friesen Physio Fitness Summit on Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the PNC Center in Raleigh, NC.

This program is designed to bring together various sports medicine specialists to share information across professional boundaries, providing the latest information on the prevention, recognition and treatment of athletic injuries. This year, the summit will focus on the shoulder and neck. The following key concepts will be presented: surgeries to the shoulder, imaging and tests for the shoulder, important statistics to know in order to read journal articles, Red and yellow flags when evaluating neck and shoulder issues, special/sensitivity tests for the neck and thoracic, psychological impact of neck and shoulder injuries, runners shoulder/neck. What tightens and loosens: how to recognize & how to prevent, tissue healing timelines around the shoulder, how to train without straining the shoulder or neck. The Friesen Physio Fitness Summit has been approved for continuing education credit for the following medical professionals: physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, athletic trainers, strength & conditioning coaches, chiropractors, and students.

"The goal of this summit is to help develop a strong community network for sports medicine professionals and to provide them a chance to come together yearly to see how their care of injuries can compliment their current treatment," noted Peter Friesen.
