Handicapping Perform Better Long Beach

Long Beach starts Friday, can you believe it? Last seminar of the year. Last trip of the year for me. I'll apologize in advance. I'm in Thursday PM and out Sat AM. Quick trip. This will be the largest Long Beach Summit ever with close to 600 attendees expected. You still have time to register here

As I said in the first two installments I hope I don't hurt anyone's feelings with my recommendations. Just FYI, except in highly unusual situations, I will recommend a lecture over a practical. That's just my opinion. I think you generally get a lot more from the lectures.

Friday

Things kick off at 9:15 on Friday and as usual it's a tough call right from the beginning. I loved Martin Rooney's talk at the One Day in New Jersey. It was far and away the best he has ever done. This is a tough choice. Mark Vestegen is always great. I need to learn more kettlebells so I might go to see Steve Cotter.

At 10:45 you again have some tough choices. If you saw me at a one day I might go see one of my favorites, Alwyn Cosgrove.

After lunch you again have great choices. My recommendation is Stuart McGill at 1. I feel bad for everyone else. Get there early my prediction is SRO for Stuart.

At 2:30, you guessed it, more tough difficult choices. Once again if you didn't go to a one day seminar come to my hands on. This will be a real hands-on with lots of instruction on stretching and mobility. Already saw me, take in Mark Verstegen's lecture.

At 4 the choice is really based on what you do. If nutrition is your thing check out Robert Yang. It will be a tough choice for me between Stuart's hands-on and Robert's lecture. To be honest, I'll check Robert's notes in the packet during the day and make my decision.

From 5:30-6:30 prepare your thirst by getting a dose of Thomas Plummer. Thom always hits you with no nonsense honesty. Don't shower because it is FREE BEER at 6:30.

Saturday

Saturday kicks off at 8. Hungover or not, get up and get at it. As always four great talks and lots of decisions. Todd Wright is always funny. Stuart is the undisputed star of the show. Looking for ropes ideas, check out John Brookfield.

At 9:30 take your pick between Gray Cook and Chris Frankel. I'm saying lecture all the way. Chris was great at the one day in New Jersey.

At 11 the fun continues. For golfers and those who train them Greg Rose lectures at 11. Two hands-ons I would like to see at this time also. Todd Wright and Jason Brown will both be great. Again, too many choices.

After lunch you can hear Stuart McGill lecture again. I know I sound like a McGill groupie. That might be because I am. Gray's hands-on is like a lecture and is always a great choice.

At 2:45 the lectures conclude with a business talk from Todd Durkin and a talk on energy systems from Bill Hartman. Were I not on a plane I would be listening to Bill. I think this choice depends on your job title.

4:15-5 is the best part for the presenters. Q+A. Now is your chance to ask Gray Cook anything you want. Everyone is on stage ,except me, and prepared to answer questions. The attendees love this part, the presenters hate it. Please don't start any questions with "I have a client …".

Sunday

Sunday is three sessions and out. You have a group of can't miss presenters so stay until the end.

At 8 is one of the toughest decision of the weekend. Two good lectures and two good hands-ons.. All four will be good. As grumpy as Vern is I always like to listen so I would go with Vern.

At 9:30 you have the exact same problem. Sue Falsone's lecture got rave reviews from my staff. It was so good I'm having her come to Boston to do it again. I'd also like to here Aaron Brooks. He did a great in-service for us at MBSC

The last talks are at 11. Again I like them all but I'd go see Vern. He is one of the true pioneers. Just be warned he may take cheap shots at other presenters but, he is still an original thinker.

See you in Long Beach.
