Daniel Martinez




Daniel currently operates Elite Volleyball Performance, LLC in San Antonio, Texas, where he trains volleyball players in his ELITE long-term athlete development program as well as other players from high school and club volleyball programs in the greater San Antonio area. He is also the co-owner of Bexar County Volleyball Academy and is a personal trainer, coach, and competitive Olympic weightlifter who has been training volleyball players and athletes for 9-years. Daniel is also the strength and conditioning coach for Trinity University Volleyball and has served as a consultant on program design and sports performance testing for Birmingham Southern College (AL) and St. Mary's University (TX) volleyball.

Daniel has a bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sport Science with a minor in Sport Psychology from Texas State University in San Marcos. Daniel is currently certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS) and Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT), and also holds certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM-CPT) and the Cooper Institute for Aerobic Research (Biomechanics). Daniel is a contributing writer to prepvolleyball.com on the subject of strength and conditioning and performance enhancement for the volleyball athlete.

Daniel also is currently training as a competitive athlete in Olympic weightlifting, previously under Coach Oleg Kechko, a 1996 Olympian and World Champion from Belarus and now under Ursula Garza, USA Weightlifting Senior International Coach. He was the bronze medalist at the 2008 Texas State Weightlifting Championships, silver medalist at the 2009 LT266 Weightlifting Invitational, and is currently training as an 85-kilo (187 Pounds) weightlifter to qualify for the USA Weightlifting National Championships. His current PRs are 110-kilo snatch (243 pounds) and 140-kilo clean and jerk (308 pounds).
